I’ve been eagerly anticipating the launch of the Dunelm chessboard side table since last year, and it’s finally here!
Just a couple of weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to preview Dunelm’s new homeware collection for spring and summer 2026 in person. I’m thrilled to share that my top two favorite pieces from this range—the Dunelm Harmon side table and its companion Harmon coffee table—are now available for purchase online! It’s about time!
Although I only got to experience these items physically two weeks ago, my excitement has been building for months ever since I spotted them in Dunelm’s lookbook for the upcoming season at the end of last year.
So, what makes this side table and coffee table so remarkable? Firstly, both pieces include concealed storage, making them ideal for those with small living rooms. With just a simple lift of the tabletop, you can uncover ample internal space to keep your belongings organized. However, the standout feature that truly captures attention is their dual functionality as a chessboard!
The practicality of hidden storage, combined with the exquisite checkered design on the tabletop—transforming into stripes along the edges—is simply perfection. The chic checkered pattern not only adds a touch of elegance but also seamlessly accommodates a game of chess or draughts, eliminating the need for an extra board.
Crafted from wood, both the side and coffee tables showcase an appealing combination of mango wood and pine, enhancing their sophisticated look and making them suitable for adult spaces rather than feeling juvenile.
But here’s where things get interesting: I have a strong feeling these unique and affordable pieces won’t be around for long. Priced at just £149 for the side table and £379 for the coffee table, they possess that viral quality that makes me predict they will quickly become bestsellers. I particularly think the side table will sell out first, as its compact size makes it perfect for any small area and remains under the £150 mark.
Interestingly, another item I adore from the collection, the £449 Dunelm Pondus coffee table crafted from cherry marble and mango wood, has already sold out. This is why I strongly encourage anyone interested in the Harmon range to act fast before they’re all gone!
