Terence “Bud” Crawford Tickets Tied to Careless-Driving Case
OMAHA, Neb. – The boxing superstar Terence Crawford was pulled over by Omaha Police on Saturday, suspected of running a red light on his way to the state wrestling championships at CHI Health Center. He received a ticket for failing to obey a traffic control signal at 2:27 p.m.
Crawford, 38, is awaiting an April court date related to a careless-driving charge from a high-profile traffic stop last fall.
The latest citation notes Crawford was driving a 2026 Mercedes-Benz SUV. In the officer’s narrative, he described observing a vehicle traveling southbound on 14th Street from I-480 at over 50 mph while the traffic light turned red before the intersection. The report states Crawford allegedly ran the red light, briefly stopped at another red light on Dodge, then continued through as traffic cleared and headed east on Douglas, passing several vehicles before turning onto 8th Street where he was stopped.
Crawford was asked what red light he ran, and the officer replied that two lights appeared to have been run. Crawford explained he was heading to watch his son compete in wrestling.
The NSAA indicated the downtown parade celebrating champions began at 3 p.m. on Saturday, with the championship matches following; Crawford’s son was scheduled to compete first.
Last September, Crawford was pulled over for allegedly careless driving near 12th and Capitol, the morning after a parade in his honor.
Crawford’s bodyguard stated that firearms were in the vehicle during the stop, but Omaha police said one officer didn’t hear the claim and, upon spotting a gun on the floor, ordered everyone out at gunpoint. Three passengers subsequently filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Omaha in December, alleging excessive force and discrimination. Crawford did not join the suit.
